Since it is Fall Break and the kids are out of school I tried to find some stuff to do to keep them busy. My neighbor and her kids went to the Dinosaur Museum with us on Friday for a couple hours. Cody always loves going and Cade is finally old enough to participate in some of the little activities they have.
When we first go there the kids kind of scattered and went crazy. Too many things to look at so once we got them all corralled we headed in.
First was this dark tunnel which signifies the world when it was just stars.
Then we started the journey through the museum. They got to, build a dinosaur and look at all kinds of dino statues.
They got to wear dino outfits and dig in the sand for dinosaurs.
They built dinosaurs again on the wall
and posed on the statue that you can't even tell what it was.
They were all excited to get to the big shark. Cade didn't remember it so it took him a minute to warm up to the idea of sitting in front of it to take a picture.
unfortunately, right after this picture Cade lost his balance had fell backwards hitting his head on the cement. He just wanted to sit like the big boys.
And finally, the part they had been waiting for. They got to dig for bones.
I am glad we went, and the kids had a good time but it is a lot of work when it is 7 kids vs 2 Moms
My friend Chelsea invited us to go to the Hogle Zoo with them one afternoon before the weather gets too cold so we loaded everyone up and made the journey up to Salt Lake. The last time we were at the zoo they were building the Bear World exhibits and this time the Bear World exhibits were done but most of the rest of the zoo was under construction.
We went to the monkey building first and honestly I think Cade could have sat and watched the monkeys for 2 hours and been happy as a clam. He thought it was hilarious when they would swing right in front of him.

Cody loves the snakes and spiders any time we go to a zoo or aquarium.

The HUGE alligator
Okay, easily the best part of the day started here. We were watching the seals swim around and then we heard a big splash and looked over to see a Polar Bear swimming right next to us. So we went up above to watch him from the top.
He was so active and so social. I had never seen anything like it. The trainers threw him a couple fish to keep him over by the kids so you can see him eating the fish above water and below water.
He would do this thing where he pushed off onto his back from the wall, swam to a rock in the middle and then swam right back up in front of the kids. He did it for like 20 minutes. The kids (and I) thought it was awesome.
Cade was scared of him everything he would swim up to the glass until right at the very end when we left.
Then we watched the black bears fight for a couple minutes and headed to see the giraffes.
By this point the Mom's were tired and the kids were starting to get cranky so we loaded up and headed back home. I would say it was a very successful day at the zoo and I would go back just to watch the Polar Bear.
When I was pregnant with Cade, Chris and his friends built Cody this Spiderman bed. He has loved the bed so much. Cade is at the age that it is probably time to start transitioning him to a big boy bed so I asked Chris if he could convert Cody's bed to a bunk bed. It ended up being a lot easier than we planned because we took apart Cade's crib and used parts of that to make the bed. The crib was broken and we won't be able to use it again anyway.
The first few nights they slept like this though.

That weekend Chris added a rail on the front so Cade can't fall out very easily. He did however fall head first into the little nook by his head between the two posts the first night.
