I haven't been great at getting these recorded and they seem to be coming at record speed lately. He says a few things a day that just crack me up and I think, "I need to write that down."
I took Cody and his friend Jackson to Jungle Jim's for a few hours and as we were leaving Jackson jumped in a rain puddle after I asked him 3 times not to...he stood at the edge and watched me for a couple seconds and then jumped. (McKenzie don't get mad at him, we handled it :) I told him that he was in trouble for not listening and that he wasn't going to get to go back to Cody's house and play. He and Cody were both so sad. After a couple minutes Cody asked if Jackson really didn't get to come play and I told them that if Jackson said Sorry then he could still come play, so Jax apologized and then fell asleep. Cody had to double check a few minutes later that Jax was actually going to get to come play and I told him that sometimes we just need to learn lessons and Jackson needed to learn to listen to me when I ask him not to jump in the puddle. Cody's lightbulb went on and he said, "Like sometimes, at our old house, do you remember when you and Daddy teached me the lesson not to say, (whispering)"Oh my God." I said, yep its the same thing. I have no idea why he chose that memory to pull out of storage but it gave me a good laugh.
I took Cade in to get his 1 year immunization and Cody was with us. We had to go to the Health Department in Provo and Cody saw the huge "Y" on the mountain and said, "Look Mom, its like my name!" I asked if he knew what the "Y" stood for and he said, "BYU" after thinking about it for a second. I asked if he knew that Mommy and Daddy went to college at BYU and he said, Yes. He asked if he could go to BYU when he is bigger and I told him that he had to get really good grades in school and then he will be able to go to BYU. He thought about it for a minute and said, "Actually, I changed my mind. I just want to go to Kindergarten."
(April)Cody starts Soccer tonight!! Last year he didn't really grasp the concept of Soccer. He was more interested in treats and other friends that might be there than playing the game. His first practice was last night and as we pulled up and parked I said, "Jump out and run over there, that is your coach in the orange." He said, "Is that my coach over there in the orange by the little kids?" I said, "Yes, Hurry!" under his breath I heard him say, "Not the little kids again."
What a little punk... but I think it was just nerves because he walked slowly over to them and then after practice I asked how it went and if he liked the new kids on his team and he said, "Yes, but my legs were shaking because of the new kids." He was just nervous because I had told him earlier in the day that he was going to be playing on a team with different kids than last year.
Cody is over playing at his friends house right now and I just got a call from McKenzie (the mom) and she said Cody was saying he wants to go home so she put him on the phone so I could talk to him. He said he wanted to come home. I asked Why and he said, "Because I'm hot." I told him to take his jacket off, he said "I will still be hot." I said to go stand outside in the rain, he said, "but I will still be hot." So I figured he had a fever and said, "Okay, tell McKenzie I will be there in a minute and he said, "Well.... we just saw that they have popsicles and then their mom said we can't have one and so I'm just hot." I started laughing as I pieced it all together and said, "So, you are hot because you want a popsicle?" He said, "well, yeah" so I told him he would be fine and told Mckenzie that he had just tried to pull a fast one on her. He gets popsicles when he has a fever so why not "have a fever" when she won't give him a popsicle? :)
(April 23) Chris's brother Mikey watched the kids for us on our anniversary so Chris and I could go out alone. As we were leaving Cody was asking where we were going over and over and we kept telling him we were going on a date. I forgot something after we left so when I went back inside for it he asked again where we were going and I told him again that we were going on a date and he looked at me with an embarrassed look and in a shy embarrassed voice said, "Are you guys going to kiss?" hahaha I said yes and he laughed and ran away.
(end of May) I have always known that Cody is a gifted child, I just didn't have any proof until last night when in the middle of a really cool thunderstorm outside our window Cody said, "Mom! Mom! I can see the thunder!"

Cody's preschool program
Today was Cody's end of the year preschool program and he was so excited for it. My camera wouldn't take a good picture so this is all I have. I will try to upload a couple funny videos though. He is sitting on the far right in all black.

I have heard a lot about this little girl over the school year, her name is Madison. She was so shy and cried every time it was her turn to talk, but as soon as it was over Cody and Madison went right to each other. Madison's Mom saw me and asked if I was Cody's Mom, when I said yes she said, "I have to tell you, as Maddie was getting ready this morning she said, 'Mom, I think Cody is going to look SO handsome today.' and at least once a week she says, 'I hope Cody is going to be at school today.'" Oh my word! Seriously?!? Wouldn't they be such a cute couple? Ok maybe once Cody learns how to smile. This picture is taken with baby Carli because it's the first place Cody took Madison, straight to show off his baby Carli.
Cody's 5th birthday!
Cody turned 5 on Tuesday! He had such a fun birthday, lots of friends and family came to celebrate with him. He had asked a couple months ago for a pirate cake so I have been thinking about what I wanted to do for a while and decided to do a treasure chest cake. Unfortunately, my idea for the lid didn't work so it was a "lid-less" treasure chest. Cody loved it and I was very happy with the way it turned out.
He got some great gifts that he loves and has played with every single one of them multiple times in just the last 2 days. He had also told me he wanted a cape for his birthday, so I thought about making one and then decided I would just buy one and then I couldn't find one I liked so I ended up making one Tuesday morning and he loves it so I was happy.
After the cake and ice cream and gifts, we headed to the garage to attach a larger than life pinata. The kids had a great time and the pinata was indestructible! Once it was broken open (with the help of an adult) the kids were pleased with the goodies inside. It was really cute to see how well they shared though.
And finally after the pinata we did a couple HUGE sparklers that Melanie and Ashton brought.
Thanks everyone who was able to make it! We had a great time!

Playing at the Park
Today was gorgeous!!! I had to get out of the house after a few rainy days so we loaded up and went to the park for a little bit. Unfortunately my boys overheat really fast so we didn't get to stay very long, that is why we love water parks. Even though Cade STILL can't walk it didn't stop him from trying to keep up with Cody.

When Cody realized that Cade was following him he kept telling people, "Look out, my baby brother is coming up." and "Hey, look at my baby brother! He's coming up here too!" and "That's my baby brother." He was so proud of Cade.

Fortunately he just had really dirty knees, legs and feet and no slivers. We went and played on the swings for a few minutes and then headed home for naps.
After Chris got home we went back to the same park so Chris and Cody could go "tennising." I noticed last night while we were at Branson's soccer game that Cade will stand up on grass. We have been working with him a lot on walking but he just isn't interested. He takes a step and then falls forward almost like a nose dive. He HATES grass though and will do anything to not have to touch it including standing or even WALKING! He stood for like 45 seconds last night before he fell and then tonight he walked about 7 steps to Chris so he wouldn't have to touch the darn grass.
Mac n Cheese
Lots of Cade
Instead of doing separate posts, here are a bunch of random pictures of Cade... being Cade.
We had a good lauch out of this one... he woke up from his nap with a huge booger stuck on his nose like a mole.
Cody decided to help Cade out one day when Cade was finished eating. He pushed him over to the kitchen island so he could open the drawer and play with all the stuff inside.
I was trying to catch Cade standing on his head but I captured this next picture and I love the way he is looking at Chris.
and then I got one of him standing on his head.
watching cartoons. He hasn't taken an interest in watching any tv until the other morning.
Stacy was doing my hair the other day and Cade started getting cranky so I strapped him in Carli's swing and he crashed. He was a little big for it though.
A random bathtub picture
This next one was taken when I dropped Cody off at school. I know he doesn't match but ALL of his clothes were in the wash.
and finally, he has started taking more of an interest in his toys. He will fight Cody for them now and even tries to play with them.
Crawling in and out of Stacy's bottom drawer at her new house.

Yesterday was eventful to say the least. Actually, it wasn't but it was really funny. I was at Stacy's new house while Cody was at school and Cody went to his friend Jackson's house with Branson to play for a little while. They get out of school at 3 and I got a call at 3:45 from Branson's mom Cheri telling me that the boys had been throwing rocks, hit a car and broke the windshield and that a police officer was now there. I woke Cade up and hurried to Keri's house where the kids were playing.
When I arrived, they were all sitting on the front step where Cody and Jackson were crying hard and the police officer was talking to the boys. Cody felt so bad. The man whose windshield was broken was so nice to the boys and just wanted to make sure they had learned their lesson. Cody is grounded, which is hard for me to even say. He is too young to be grounded so I haven't really used that word, he just knows he is in REALLY BIG trouble. No t.v. no movies, no friends, no fun basically. I told him he is welcome to read books, color play with toys but no riding bikes or anything he enjoys basically. This has been harder on me than him though. He was supposed to have a soccer game last night but it was canceled because of rain. I didn't tell him that though, he thinks he missed his game because he was in trouble. He has been driving me crazy today!! He has been sucking up but has asked me multiple times when he will get to play with his friends.
We finally went for a walk tonight and I let him ride his scooter but that was because I was going to go crazy.
He had to write apology notes to a few people this morning, and here is a picture of the first one he wrote to the man whose windshield was broken.
It says, "Mr. Hullinger, I am sorry for throwing rocks at your car. From Cody"

My name is C.O.D.Y.
Cody has made a couple of friends already down at Stacy's house while I have been down there helping unpack so one day we went down since Stacy was out of town and they were having some furniture delivered. His little friend came over and he and Cody went out to pick "flowers" i.e. dandelions. After 15 minutes I went over to get him and I asked him what his friends name was. He said he didn't know, so I told him that next time he should say, "Hi, my name is Cody. What is your name?" He thought about that on the way home. An hour later as we loaded up for preschool I looked at him and saw this...
I asked why in the world he would write his name on his forehead and he responded with, "I put my name on my head so that next time my friend doesn't know my name he can just see it on my head." I just about died laughing.
