For Daddy.

Cody and I went the Y again last night to swim since Daddy is working. He is getting so brave. We went up the stairs to go down the slide and as soon as we got to the top he jumped on the slide so fast I almost coudln't grab his life-jacket. He was ready to go down by himself. So I decided not to hold him up when he hit the water and he took in a huge mouth/nose full of water. He wasn't so quick to go down by himself the next time :)

Here he is when we were getting dressed afterward. This little girl was sitting under a hand dryer while her mom dried her hair, so apparently Cody thought he should do the same. Here he is in his fleece jammies, tennis shoes and robe. It cracks me up how his personality changes when he is wearing his robes. He turns into a little show off. This was last night before bed. He was patiently waiting for me. This was the other day while he was laying down for a nap. I love his eyes.
and this was him being a boy last night. Has to get into and on top of everything.

Y

I have been working out at our local Y lately, so Chris takes Cody swimming while I am working out. Every now and then I get to go swimming too. Cody LOVES the slide, and tells people he jumps off the diving board even though he cant. When I went in to get them Monday Cody was so excited to show me his progress. He loves floating on his back now! He gets his legs moving and can be to the other end of the pool in no time.

Growing Pains

My sister Stacy just might hate me for sharing this story but it is crucial to the rest of my post.

When we were little we shared a bedroom and a queen size bed. I am pretty sure all 5 of us kids got growing pains in our legs occassionally, on this particular night however... you would have thought she was dying!! She moaned and groaned and cried for at least 2 hours because she had growing pains. I thought I was going to strangle her!

Now, about 4 months ago Cody started waking up about an hour after falling asleep complaining that his "wegs" hurt. I immediately assumed grwoing pains. When I told Chris he thought I was CRAZY! apparently he never had them growing up. I asked his mom about it and she said she had them as a kid though. interesting.

So, I googled it. and this is what I came up with. Apparently it is common in kids ages 3-5 and 8-12. I guess he just got started a little early.

Now, on to my funny story.

Last night Cody woke up complaing again that his leg hurt.
I asked him where it hurt and he pointed to his shin.
I asked what happened and he said, "I got shot!"
through the giggles I said, "you got shot?"
he said, "yeah, Daddy shot me."

I massaged his legs for about 10 minutes while he cried. Finally he started to calm down after a little bit of medicine. I asked him if I could lay down by him cause I had a tummy ache. He said, "you have a tummy ache? I will make it feel better." he stopped crying and started rubbing my tummy and eventually fell asleep like this.

HAHAHA

*note to self*- no more action movies with Daddy.

Work

Okay, so by now I am sure you all know I work at The Mona Lisa. It is a very romantic restaurant and as servers we are actually not allowed to "get to know the guests." If they ask us questions we can answer but we are supposed to mind our own business for the most part. On occassion however, I get one of those really fun tables. Tonight I had a group of 8 people that were really out to have a good time.

There was an older lady who used a cane... it fell off her chair 4 times during dinner and every time she would look at me and say, "honey would you please?" and she pointed to her cane. nice, I was her servant.

The birthday lady asked me 3 times if I wanted to sit down and eat with them. (I am pretty sure she drank a bottle and a half of wine all by herself)

I really wish I had accepted because I was starving when I got home and had to settle for a bowl of honey bunches of oats.

The best part...? the older lady with her cane came up and slipped a $10 bill into my hand as they were leaving. Too sweet.

I made a roast for dinner tonight.
.
I don't know why I can't make a roast and have it be ready when it is time to eat.
.
So frustrating.

Breakfast

First of all, I am not much of a breakfast person. Therefore, I have never spent much time trying to be creative with what we eat for breakfast. It is either pancakes or waffles. occasionally french toast. and recently we discovered the BEST TORTILLAS EVER so we have had breakfast burritos twice.

On the side of my blog I have links to a few different cooking blogs. Chris teases me that I am always looking at them but rarely make the stuff that they post. In my defense, CHRIS IS A PICKY EATER! Most of the stuff they make Chris won't eat.

HOWEVER!!! I saw this on The Pioneer Woman Cooks and I thought... HOLY COW! Chris might like this! So, I tried it. AND.... WE LOVED IT! I don't eat eggs. well not very often. I dont like the texture of scrambled eggs. But this was phenomenal!

I did a couple things different though.

I used:
2 potatoes
1/2 yellow onion
1 T butter
1 Roma Tomato
2 T green onion diced
3 Basil Leaves
hand full of cheese
6 eggs
4 T milk

I peeled and diced the potatoes, pretty small (see picture) then boiled them till tender.
Put butter and onion in frying pan. add cooked potatoes. add plenty of salt and pepper.
just like Pioneer Woman did, have the tomato basil and green onion mixed together in separate bowl. I put the cheese on before the tomato mixture. Then over the whole thing pour the egg and milk mixture. bake for 15 min at 300 degrees!

Seriously AMAZING. I am currently eating leftovers slathered in salsa!

Thanks Pioneer Woman!

Legos

Chris asked his dad for the Legos he used to play with as a kid the other day and he brought them home for Cody to play with... not a good idea. Cody has never put stuff in his mouth. Not even as a baby, but as soon as he got his hands on these Legos... he had one stuck on his tooth. While Chris built a castle, Cody played with all of the horses. He would arrange them on the fireplace in a line.

The finished product...

This picture I just thought was cute. I got out of the shower one morning to find Cody on the computer.

False Alarm

I have wondered as a mom if something happened in the middle of the night, like a fire or a burglar, how I would react. Simply because I REALLY like my sleep, and I am a really deep sleeper. There were nights when I didn't wake up to Cody crying, Chris had to go get him.
Last night, I found out. At 2:30 a.m. our smoke alarm went off. I think I almost had a heart attack. I sat up like I wasn't even asleep and was completely awake and alert. After I gave my self a second to calm down and relax I realized that I would be okay if that happened for real. I am not so worried now. When I rolled over to look at Cody though... this was how he had responded to the smoke alarm... haha. I got a good laugh out of it.

This picture however, is extremely random. At work last night, my boss made this out of wax. He was SO proud of himself that he had me take a picture for him. (obviously it was pretty slow last night)

Shameless Plug

This isn't REALLY for me, but I am going to do it anyway.

I work at Mona Lisa Fondue Restaurant on Friday and Saturdays... its $33 a person. pretty expensive...

The owner and his wife have been working for a couple months to open for lunch, but making that transition from expensive Fondue at night to affordable Bistro during the day has been tricky. They officially opened for lunch starting today. I was there on Tuesday to help them get ready to open to the public and I am SO EXCITED about what they are doing. The food is great and the atmosphere is perfect. SOOO here is their website...
http://mlfondue.com/
it doesn't have the menu up yet. They have soups, sandwiches, salads, pastas and even their cheese fondues. the most expensive thing on the lunch menu is 8.50!

I work Thursdays during lunch. Come see me. anytime between 11 and 2. :)

Cody walks better in my shoes than I do!

Interesting connection.

I was reading an article today about John Travolta's son Jett, and what his funeral will be like considering they are scientologists... well as I was reading this ariticle, I couldn't help but think it was WAY too similar too this book! Weird.

Tagged.

I have never actually done a TAG before so I figured I would start... Suzi tagged me with a Photo Tag.

You must take these pictures of these things as they are! No cleaning, do you hear me? I thought it would be fun to see what things really look like.

1. Laundry Room. I love washing, drying and folding clothes... but I HATE putting them away.

2. Closet.. Manda's side

Chris's side

3. Fridge/Freezer. The long skinny silver thing in the freezer side... is a dead fish Chris is going to have stuffed... or whatever they do with them.

4. Favorite shoes.

just kidding

these are my favorite flats

these are my favorite heels

5. Self Portrait.

HA HA HA
6. Kitchen Sink. Not my proudest moment.

7. Favorite Room. My new picture I got for Christmas... thats really the only reason I picked this room... we almost never use this room though.

8. Bathroom

I have accepted that this is going to be the way the toilet will look.

9. What your kids are doing right now.
Cody is taking a nap with his entourage... which includes... 3 spidermen, 1 police man a colice car a police motorcyle and his spiderman 4 wheeler.
I tag you if you think you want to do it... it was kind of fun.

just a little whoopsie daisy.

Last night Chris and I decided to break out the Scrabble game he got me for Christmas and see who could make the other one mad first... :) While I was grabbing a pad of paper and pen, Cody fell of the chair at the table face first with the wooden letter holder in his hand... this is what it did to his face! Just by the way he hit the floor I honestly thought he broke his arm but he immediately grabbed his fingers instead. Phew! (if you look closely you can see that it cut his nose a little too.
Here is the cheek after he fell asleep thirty minutes later...

and this morning.... it is a little swollen and it is definitely tender.
He also grabbed my curling iron the other day so he has a little burn on his thumb.... nothing a little spiderman band aid can't fix.
