Thanksgiving 2011

We weren't sure if we were going to go to Idaho this year because the drive last year was so awful! We wanted to wait and see what the roads were going to look like. This Winter has been so mild so far and we have had one day of snow fall. The weather was beautiful so we decided to head up Tuesday at 11:30. We picked Cody up from school a half hour early which unfortunately was right in the middle of their class's Thanksgiving feast :) He was able to still eat his food though so he was happy.

The drive up was awful. Only because Cade has found our buttons and he REALLY likes to push buttons. He still can't talk so he screams. Short, extremely high pitched screams. Its AWFUL!
He slept for 40 minutes so... 5 hours of screaming.

We stopped by Henneman's when we got into town to say Hi, let the boys stretch their legs and expend a little of their energy and then it was off to my parents house. Where Cody immediately jumped in the hot tub and Cade and I followed shortly after.

Wednesday morning the boys had been in the hot tub for 30 minutes before I even got out of bed :) We had breakfast and then Chris and my dad headed out for some fishing.



We stayed at the house and helped my mom with Thanksgiving pies. Actually, I went to lunch with Abby for her birthday and Cody helped, then I stole a pie and took it to Henneman's as my own so, thanks Cody :)

Thursday morning we started out in the hot tub again and then the boys went to shoot targets before lunch. While they were away I was getting ready for the day and while I was straightening my bangs I burned the tip of my nose with my curling iron. I still don't know how I wasn't paying attention enough to have that happen but it did and I have a Rudolph nose now.


Cody still talks about going "gun shotting" with his dad and papa. I was told that he shot a couple time but they walked around picking up bullet casings the rest of the time. This next set is a little out of order. These were taken on Friday at my Aunt Tammy and Uncle Mike's house out in Star. They have a bunch of land and a bunch of animals and one REALLY BIG BULL!

I was impressed that Cody was brave enough to ride the bull by himself but I also don't think he knew what that bull was capable and Cade was absolutely not having it.







After riding 4 wheelers and riding bulls all the boys and Abby headed out to go quail hunting. I was told that Cody got cold pretty fast and spent the rest of the time inside with my Aunt. This is Thanksgiving dinner at Steve and Lori's. We were really lucky this year and it worked out that we were at Thanksgiving dinner/lunch with both families. My parents ate at my aunt and uncles at 2pm so we were able to visit with them while they ate and then head over and eat with Henneman's. It was perfect.

Both of Chris's grandma's were there this year which hasn't happened at least since we've been married so that was fun. Cade and Cody had a blast playing with Scarlett and lots of aunt, uncles, grandmas and grandpas.



I couldn't believe the nice weather we had. It was chilly but no snow or even rain. The kids were outside running around in t-shirts!
Again, more out of order pictures. These next couple were from Wednesday night. We had bbq at Henneman's with everyone. The first picture gives you a little glimpse of Cade's personality right now.

And... hot tub pictures. These are from all during the week. Cade was hesitant at first but warmed right up to it.
He liked to put his face in this star floatie and say, "Hewwo! Hewwo!"

And finally, on Saturday night my mom, dad, Cody and I went down to see the lights that are set up downtown Caldwell. I was super impressed.
We had such a great trip. We got to see so many people and do so many fun things! We probably won't be back up for a few months so its going to have to hold us over.

Winter Swimming

We haven't been swimming in a couple months and it was about time so we headed down to the legacy center and let the boys play for an hour or so.

After we were in out suits the boys took off for the pool. Cade was right behind Cody until the big bucket dumped its water and Cade booked it back to the dressing room as fast as he could. He ran right by me and as soon as he was safely in the dressing room he started looking around for me.

This first picture was how he looked for the first 10 minutes. He wouldn't leave my side and he wouldn't take his eyes off of the big bucket of water.
Cody on the other hand was off as soon as we got there and only came back to pick on Cade occasionally.

Kangaroo Zoo

We headed to Kangaroo Zoo earlier this week with Marissa and Scarlett. We haven't been there since Cade started walking so this was a completely different experience for Cader. He tried really hard to keep up with Scarlett but she was all over the place and she got there quickly!
This was the only picture I got with both Cade and Scarlett in it, she was already headed to a new toy.
Cade would have been content to stay in this toy the whole time.
We took our neighbor Ethan with us so Cody had a buddy to run around with. They were too quick to get any good pictures of so I have one of them climbing into the kids toy.


This picture of Scarlett is the most I think I have seen her look like Marissa.

Branson's bday cake

Cody's friend Branson turned 6 last week. His mom Cheri is one of my good friends and I asked her if I could make his birthday cake. It was lego themed and I found a cake on pinterest that I really liked and tried to recreate... unfortunately, mine looked almost nothing like the one I was trying to recreate but it was still a lego cake. The lego guy was supposed to be much much bigger and there was a third cake that was going to sit on the other 2 as the connector piece but I ran out of time. It is no where near professional but I had a great time making it and Branson LOVED it!

Halloween night was a lot more fun than I had anticipated. Cody had been in his costume all day from the school parade but we added his gun, holster, handcuffs, sunglasses and facial hair. He had a different style mustache every day.


Stacy and BJ brought Carli over to trick or treat early so we snagged a few pictures with all 3 kids in their costumes.

We went to Chris's Aunt and Uncle's house in Alpine before we went trick or treating to a few houses in our subdivision.

The first house we went to was right next door. Cody's friend Ethan's house. Ethan's big brother and his friend were sitting out front to scare people. I thought it was pretty clever. Cody paused and then I told him to go ring the door bell so he hesitantly took a few steps and then stopped so I told him again to go up there so he took a couple more steps and saw the kid laying down breathing and stopped again. So Ethan's brother Alex who is holding the candy bowl took his mask off and said, "Hi Cody." He was still hesitant to go get a piece of candy but he still did. Cade on the other hand, absolutely would not go up there!

The next house had a bunch of great decorations on their front porch and when I sat Cade down to try to get a picture he lost it!! So even though you can't really see his face, he was SCREAMING!
After a few more houses of watching Cody knock on doors Cade started to warm up to the idea of it and he started going up to doors with Cody and even would say something in jibberish to people before he took a candy.

At the last house he even tried to go in for some dinner. :)For our first year trick or treating I think it went really well. Both boys had a good time and they made off with lots and lots of candy. Chris stayed behind to hand out candy to kids who came to our house (and watch Monday night football) :)
