President Henneman

We had an exciting weekend. Elder Bednar an apostle for our church came to my in-laws stake conference to call a new stake presidency.... we were surprised but not shocked that Steve was called as the new Stake President of their stake. We are so excited for him, he is going to be amazing. We had the chance to listen to Elder Bednar speak during their conference and then after we got to talk to him briefly. Chris had a brief encounter with Elder Bednar in college at BYU-I (ricks college at the time), Elder Bednar was the President of the school and Chris didn't shave before he went to the testing center and he got turned in and had to meet with Elder Bednar. Needless to say, Chris was completely clean shaven on Sunday :)

After church, we went to my grandparents to eat lunch. Cody had a blast with them, we don't get to see them often enough. They had fruit roll ups with blue "tattoos" for your tongue.

It was gorgeous outside so he did lots of running around.

Bare feet= dirty toes.

And a random side note....

We have grass!!! :) haha sort of

Cody's 1st SENTENCE!

Momma's Shower, All Gone

Friday, April 25, 2008

I finished the first book in the Twilight series. That is right, I started Wednesday afternoon during Cody's nap and was done by noon today. Cody took a 90 minutes bath so I could sit next to the tub and finish it. I think I will wait until next week to start the next one because I think Cody missed his mom and Chris missed his wife. :)

Happy Anniversary plus some.

Today is our Anniversary!!! Whoo hooo 3 years. However, we went out last night because we are both in the Young Women/Men presidency in our church so we have mutual tonight and meetings tomorrow night. Chris had a gift certificate to a local restaurant called Copper Canyon. It is a very upscale restaurant in our area. so our meal cost us 8 bucks. Then we headed to a movie. I had 2 $10 gift cards so our movie was free too. We saw the movie 21, it was incredible. I love Vegas and Chris just likes that kind of movie. Unfortunately that was where the night ended because when we picked Cody up he had a fever and required a lot of attention. I left my memory card at work so I don't have any pictures from our date, but I downloaded a picture of what he got me.

I am so excited. I have heard this series is amazing! The impressive part is that he is paying attention, I just recently started reading quite a bit more and he picked up on that... AND he wrapped it himself. For any Hennemans reading this you know why that is so cool to me. :)

Now for the random stuff, these are just a couple of cute pics from the last couple days. We went to Givens Hot Springs the other night but all those pictures are on my sisters camera so I will post about that when I can get ahold of her memory card.

These cracked me up because ever since we threw away the binky, he has been sleeping deeper, well here is a great example... HE SLEPT THROUGH AN ENTIRE WALMART TRIP!!! and back into the car, and two more hours when we got home!!! (notice the shoe print on his head in the second picture... he took his shoe off in the car before he fell asleep and hit himself in the head. :)

100% boy!

binky broke!

I have a lot to catch up on... I know it has only been a few days but we are keeping busy and I don't want to forget any of it.

First, we finally got hydroseed sprayed on our yard. It was a very last minutes decision, Chris was working on getting rocks our of the yard and he told me Sunday to call Monday to see when someone could come spray... so Tuesday morning we had hydroseed. My parents came over Monday night and helped Chris get ready (I played volleyball), we are so excited for our grass.

Second, Cody is officially off the binky!!! Wooo hoooo. When I had Cody the nurses told me that they don't recommend giving binkies to babies during the 1st month... I didn't agree. It is called a pacifier for a reason, right? Well, he has been a binky baby since that 1st night that I demanded they give him a binky so "I could just get some dang sleep!" I decided on Wednesday that I was tired of the binky. So, after minimal research on the best way to get rid of the binky I cut off the tip. This is going to make me sound like a TERRIBLE mother but I could not stop laughing. I cut it right in front of him so that he could see that is was not coming back. He kept saying "Ouwie Mommy, Ouwie!!! No!!!!!!" (I have no idea how to spell "ouwie"). After I was done cutting the binky he kept repeating, "Binky broke, oh no, broke Mom." He slept with Chris and I that night simply because I did not want to get up during the night when he wanted his binky. Instead, at 5:30 a.m. he rolled over to me and wanted donuts.... yes that is right, he specifically asked for donuts! Never a dull moment. We are on day 4 and it has been so much easier than I ever imagined, especially since he had gotten to the point where he had to have the binky 24/7. So if anyone needs a good way to rid a 2 year old of his/her binky, there you go. It worked for us. And p.s. he is actually sleeping a lot better/deeper without a binky.

Third, I found this priceless little piece at a friend of my moms house on Monday. They went through their storage to let their kids go through it and take what they wanted but the weather turned bad so they called and told my mom to come get what she wanted. This used to be a foot board of an antique bed, but when I saw it I thought it was a little bench. I am in the process of painting it black to match my other furnishings! I am so excited! I has been my project this week and I am having a blast.

Fourth, Mikey has been out on his mission for 1 month today! Wow, only 23 more.

Fifth, I was doing an Open House for a listing I have today and all of the sudden I heard an ICE CREAM TRUCK!!! I have not seen on of those for years! I went running outside and it was not your typical ice cream truck but Cody still seemed to enjoy it, almost as much as I did.

And finally, tonight was a tri-stake dance that we(our spanish branch) planned. A lot of time and stress went into planning it in the last couple weeks. I was at the church at 4 o'clock to meet the guy bringing the concessions for our carnival themed dance but he didn't show up until 6:45. So, while we waited Cody made some new friends... Brayden even let him ride his bike for a couple minutes. I guess now I know what Cody is getting for his birthday.

We finished off a fun filled and WARM weekend by going up to the Owyhee mountains with my mom and dad and some kids they were babysitting. Taylor, Camryn, Bailey and Colton, the same Colton from the previous post. After church we were able to get Cody a small nap and then we headed out to eat some yummy sandwiches, go on a hike and collect some neat looking rocks. Here are some of my favorite pictures and a couple cute videos from the day.

Cody managed to trip and scratch up both knees as soon as he got out of the car, he made them feel all better by himself... no mommy kisses needed!

Helping Daddy with Yard Work

We are supposed to have a gorgeous weekend so we started it off Friday night by helping daddy get our yard ready for grass.... ok Cody helped and mom took pictures. Click on the picture so you can see their matching cowboy hats, that is the best part of the picture. Then, Daddy went fishing with Uncle Troy so we went over and played with Cody's friend Colton.

They have so much fun together even though they are a year apart.

I found it!!!

The bench that I had envisioned going in my closet under the window! It is at a local home decor store called Graples.

Unfortunately, Uncle Sam just took all the money I had planned to buy it with.

First of all, this is a day late but Happy Birthday to Lori, my mother-in-law. We were able to have dinner with them Sunday with some other family and then again tonight. We are so lucky to have both of our parents so close to us and be able to see them so often.

Tonight we went to the park in their subdivision to play on the swing set and slides. I couldn't believe how much fun Cody had, he was laughing so hard on the swings and he probably went down the slide 30 times. ALSO, we are working on his ABC's, he can repeat them all after me pretty well. I will get a good video posted eventually.

Stalker Blogs

A lot of people are turning their blogs private... I am not, totally against this. I think it is great if you want to be able to post things that you don't want anyone but the people you KNOW are reading your blog to read. I did add this Feedjit Blog traffic thing just for fun last week to see if I really am blogging for friends and family or if it is mainly being seen by my eyes... after a couple days I started thinking it was slightly stalker-ish of me to have that on my blog, so I down graded to a blog counter instead. I just prefer to not put extremely private infor on my blog and made it so you cant see it by searching my name on Google.

I must admit that I enjoy looking at other peoples blogs more than I enjoy updating mine. I had 3 of my young women at church come up to me and say "Chris says you are always on your blog!" Chris is not an active participant on our blog but I think he secretly looks at it at work :) He will occaisonally say something while I have it pulled up on our computer like " lets see whats on the blog now..." like he doesn't know. haha I love my hubby.

All Done.

I finally finished my book. Some of you may remember that I started reading the book The Atonement the end of February. I realize it is already April and the book is not long or difficult to read but that is how life goes I guess. Anyway, I finally had a chance to really get reading when we went down to Utah a couple weeks ago and I forced myself to make time to finish it. It was INCREDIBLE. I am not great with descriptive words so I am going to leave it at that. I HIGHLY recommend it if you haven't read it. I "hear" the movie couldn't do the book justice :)

Beautiful Weather!

Finally the weather has been warm enough to go outside with out at least a light jacket on and of course Cody and I took advantage of it. I took a blanket and a book and cody took his little soccer ball and we played outside for 3 hours today! The 3rd picture is my favorite because he missed the ball and rolled right over it.

I couldn't resist posting this. How cute. Everyone says Cody looks just like my dad and Chris's dad. Depending on which Papa they know.

And, Chris had his Young Men over last night to make pizza's and play Wii...

April Fools!!!

I love April fools day. However, I never do anything simply because I am afraid of hurting someones feelings. If I could think of something to do that I knew would only be funny and not hurtful or offensive in any way... I would definitely do it.

I had an opportunity to pull a GREAT April fools day joke on Chris and I's first date... but I wasn't thinking quick enough. We had known eachother for a couple months before he finally asked me out on a REAL date and it happened to be April 1st. We were going to go to dinner and a movie, typical 1st date. I walked down to his apartment after classes because he lived like 2 blocks away and when I got there, his roomate Troy wanted to go hit some golf balls with Chris real quick. Chris asked if I minded going along for a little bit before dinner and of course I said that it would be fine. Troy had just bought brand new golf clubs and had only used them a couple times. Now, here is what would have been hilarious... I have played golf since I was 4! Not to sound boastful but I am pretty good. It was just something that came pretty natural, so I wish I hadn't said anything and acted like I didn't know what I was doing and made them look like they were really good for the first few minutes and THEN get up and crush the ball with Troys driver.... however I had already told them that I had played since I was 4. I was still really funny to see their faces after I hit the first ball. Troy's only comment was "It really can go straight!!" (he was having a hard time hitting his driver straight). The best part was that they both sat behind me the rest of the time, refusing to hit another ball because a girl was better than them. :)

But how funny would that have been to make them feel so manly first. Or even just pretend like I had never played before but that somehow I could hit the ball so well... and then April Fools them! Oh how funny that could have been!

This is the only golf related picture of me, simply because I don't go much anymore. This was at a charity event 2 years ago exactly... I was 7.5 months prego and my dad and I still won... we were disqualified though because we did a 4 man scramble instead of a two man scramble. I did manage to take home both womens closest to the pin prizes and the longest drive prize :) (we are a little bit competitive)
