Funny things THEY say

I have done a couple posts about the funny things Cody says, well now I can do one about the funny things THEY say. Cade's talking really took off about 4 weeks ago. He would still talk a lot before, but there were no words. Now, he practically bosses us all around.

He will try to repeat anything you ask him to say, but my favorite words are:
Coke-y (Cody)
Cooool (Cool (duh))
BuhBye Mommy
Wook et (Look at it) when he is trying to show me something
Pat-za (Pizza)
Ta-tart (Pop tart)
Gahma (Grandma)
CD (It just cracks me up that he learned what a CD is already)
ah-back (put it back)-he hears that a lot
Shut door
opa door (open door)
Coke-y's car (Cody's cop car) he is obsessed!
Ready, Set, Go!
Coke-y sad (Cody's sad) when Cody is crying.
Pet-zel (Pretzel)
Feeshy (fishy)
a hawm (go home)

Those are a few I can think of that make me laugh when I hear him say it.
He likes to say bye to things when we leave, or when I turn something off, i.e. phone, tv, computer, toy.
He is learning to put words together but mostly just buh-bye Mommy. Or buh-bye Cokey's car.
or all done tv.
He is starting to use stall tactics on me at bedtime. I don't remember Cody doing that this young. As we head up the stairs and go past my room he says, "movie? movie?" to which I always reply no, and then we are at the office and he says, "gahma? gahma!!" because he wants to talk to grandma on the computer (skype) and I have to tell him that she isn't there and then by then we have arrived to his room where he says, "Booook? Boooook!!!" So, we sit and read a book before he goes to bed. As of late however, Cody insists on reading the book to Cade, which absolutely melts my heart every time. He tries to tell it so that Cade will understand and I think Cody looks forward to it now.
Tonight as Cade and I were headed up the stairs and Cody was still downstairs Cody ran over and said in a very confused voice, "Wait, I thought I was reading him his story?" He ran up the stairs so fast when I said he could. After the story was over, Cade gave Cody a hug but didn't let go so they sat snuggling on my lap for a full minute. I am not a super emotional person but it made me tear up to have that moment with them. I hope so badly that they will care about each other that much the rest of their lives. Maybe not snuggling forever :) but that their bond will be unbreakable.

Cody has been learning how to read in school, but he hasn't picked up on it as quick as the other kids. So, his small accomplishments are a big deal for me. He has recently started trying to sound out words and draw pictures for me. Some of his pictures crack me up, like one of Chris on a Nike boat and one of me playing volleyball. He will ask me how to spell words to go with his pictures and I help him sound them out so they aren't usually spelled correctly but he goes by what it sounds like for now. One of his sentences went like this: Cody (heart) Kadr so much. Made me melt! and I get lots of Cody (heart) or luv Mom so mch. I will have to take a few pictures of them. He draws me 3 or 4 pictures a day lately.

Every Thursday Cody goes to the Library at school and gets to pick a new book. We kept forgetting to take his book back to school Thursdays so he could get a new one until recently. His friends Cash and Joseph want to get his book after he takes them home now so he never forgets to take them back. Recently his books have been, Fighter Planes of World War II, Tigers and Tiger Cubs, Motorcyles, and Sharks. He loves his boy books.

There are a million funny things that they say in a day and I hope to do a better job of getting them recorded because I want them to be able to read these when they are older and get a good laugh out of it.

Sleeping Babies

I took the boys to the dentist last week and the dentist told me that Cade needs to give up the binky NOW. I already knew that because I could see that it was affecting his teeth but it is just so convenient. I took Cody's away on his 2nd birthday and it was SO EASY!! However, with Cade's personality I knew it was going to be harder for him. That night (last Thursday) I made him go to sleep without his binky. He cried for a really really long time but eventually fell asleep. He woke up a couple hours later and because Chris was now home I knew I wouldn't be able to make him cry himself back to sleep again so I gave him his binky and let him go back to sleep.

The next day I decided that I would eliminate the binky during the day and he can only have it in his crib. I had done that with Cody too but he wouldn't play that game. Cade did fine without it but definitely liked that I gave it to him to go to sleep. So, Chris left for Georgia on Tuesday and I planned to get rid of the binky while he was gone :) I started it Tuesday night and I did the same thing I had done with Cody. I cut off the tip of the binky and went and gave it to Cade as he was getting in bed. I said, "Look buddy, the binky broke." He looked at it for a second and said,"Beenty boke?" He starred at it for a minute and I left the room. He drank his milk and fell and didn't hear anything more from him until Cody fell off the bathroom counter while brushing his teeth and made a loud crashing noise and Cade started crying. I knew I couldn't go in there so he cried for a few minutes and then fell asleep. I went in about a half hour later and took a picture of him asleep with the broken binky still in his left hand. He woke up from the noise so I took him in my room and snuggled until he fell back asleep and then he went back to his bed and woke up at 7:30 the next morning. Perfect!

I did the same thing the next morning for his nap. I showed him the binky, gave him his sippy cup and left the room. It took him longer to fall asleep than normal but he didn't cry while he was in there. I was so proud. We have been binky free since then.
I had to snap a quick picture of Cody sleeping too. Notice the shirt he is wearing. Its the same Nike shirt as the other pictures. We we able to compromise. He can wear the shirt every night to bed, but has to wear a different shirt to school. :)

My Nike Monster

Chris has turned Cody into a Nike monster. When he gets dressed he has to wear this outfit every time, and if it's cold he puts on his Nike jacket. The other day he decided he wanted Cade to match him, and this was the result.

Cader

Cade has a few obsessions that I have mentioned previously. He seems to find something every day that keeps his attention for the whole day. Lately it has been wearing Cody's hat. He loves it, and Cody thinks its so cute that Cade wants to wear his hat.
one of the others is shoes. Cody's shoes, Daddy's shoes, Mommy's shoes or even his own. He always has to have on a pair of shoes.

Rough Housing

Cody and Cade have a few special moments when Cade is in a playing mood and lets Cody wrestle around with him a little bit. It never lasts very long but Cody loves the moments.

The first set were when Chris was home and he got to snuggle with the boys. Cade only snuggled for about 10 seconds and then he was off, but we got a good picture out of it. Notice the trail of goldfish in the first picture

Then, the next day was when I got the fun pictures of Cody and Cade being silly.





And then, Cody smacked his nose on the back of Cade's head... and this started.
Fortunately diaper hats were able to cheer him up.

Swimming with Robby

Yesterday Cade's friend Robby got to come play for a few hours so I loaded the kids up and took them swimming. It was perfect. We were the only ones in the whole pool! The little ones took a minute to warm up to the water, but Cody took right off.





Robby took a spill, but jumped right back into the water.







After Cade had finished playing in the drinking fountain he ran back to play with Robby and fell... this was his reaction.

As we were walking out, Robby decided he wasn't done and headed right back into the water. Fortunately I stopped him before he got real far.
