Happy Boy

FIESTA!

We had a party at our house Sunday night! Well, more of a dinner but it sounds more fun to call it a party. Chris's buddies, Eraclio and Antonino (or as Cody calls them... Rocklio and Antopino) made us a full blown Mexican dinner. It is my favorite when they do the cooking! Skirt steak tacos, Mexican rice, the most amazing "salad" ever and beans, but I have to make the beans.

We invited over Chris's cousins, Andrew and Eric, their Mom Deb, Mikey and his 2 roomates, Tyler and Parker. It was a full house. Cody was in Heaven!!

These next few pictures are the result of Cody getting a hold of the camera.

(he had me take these two... he needed to get in on the silly face action)

I love this picture. It has almost everyone in it. You can see Andrew and Cody on the couch in the background. He adores those boys!

Cody's 1st soccer game

Here are just 2 videos of Cody's soccer game tonight.
In the first one, he scores a goal... unfortunately Branson was the one who did all the work to get the ball there, Cody just happened to be there and stole the ball.

The second one is... well, just watch. :)
Tot Soccer!
Hopefully Cody has his first soccer game tonight. Unfortunately we woke up to snow this morning and it is supposed to be gross all weekend, so we will see.
Last night they had their first practice, but because of the rain we went into the church gym.

The little blob in the back corner is Cody. He kicks the ball, lays down and plays dead.

We have 6 games to get the hang of it.

His team is all boys from out subdivision and all but one is in our ward.
Cody, Branson, Ammon, Bennett, Jackson, Davis and Briggs.

The weird part is that there is an all girls team from out subdivision too... those poor little girls are going to get walked all over.

I dont think he cares as much about playing soccer as he does about the cool new shin guards he got or even just hanging out with all his friends twice a week.
Keep your fingers crossed that we get this whole soccer thing figured out.

Son, were you picking your nose?

I forgot to post this picture.
Cody came into our room one morning to crawl in bed with us.
He swears he wasn't picking his nose.

And these thighs!!
I love chubby baby legs!

and last, my snuggle bugs.
Cody loves snuggling Cade in the crib.

Twins?

Same Baby? Different babies?
You tell me.

Warmth

We have had the most amazing weather the last 5 days or so.
Like 70's everyday.
It is supposed to get gross again tomorrow and then this weekend so we are taking
advantage of all the outside time we can get.
Cody plays with his buddies in the neighborhood,
and Cade and I lay under and umbrella
:)
Its perfect.

Random side note, I have started really paying attention to Cade's eating schedule.
For the first 6 weeks I fed him every 2-3 hours, depending on when he started getting hungry.
After the 6 week mark I decided I wanted to try to space him out to 3 hours consistently to try to get him to sleep longer than 3 hour stretches at night.
It worked. He actually went straight to 4 hours during the day and then one 5 hours stretch at
night.
Now, he goes 4-5 hours during the day consistently and one 6 hour stretch most nights.
I couldn't ask for much more at 8 weeks.
It allows me to be able to get a few things done during the day and usually get some good
sleep at night.

Sleep Patterns

I never paid attention to Cody's sleep patterns. We just went with the flow.
This time around I am taking a different approach to things.
I have read parts of a couple different books to help me figure out how I wanted
to do things. I watch Cade's schedule, take note of how long he's been awake,
and let him sleep whenever he wants!

One of the books focuses on the E.A.S.Y. program. Eat Activity Sleep You.
I didn't notice it with Cody but its exactly what babies do. They eat, play a little,
sleep, (while You get a few things done) and then eat play sleep again.
What a simple pattern. Wish my life was still that simple.

Fortunately it wasn't something I had to teach Cade, he did it on his own. I am noticing though that activity time is getting longer and longer as the time goes on. It cracks me up that he can be SO TIRED after laying on the floor and looking
out the window for 30 minutes.

Cody has been a little pill lately.
That is the nicest way I know to say that. We assume it has to do with
the fact that he isn't getting as much attention as he used to.
I don't ignore him all day but I do let him keep himself entertained when I
am feeding Cade. I want him to understand that I trust him to be by himself
and not make a mess. It hasn't worked out very well for me over the last week or so.

Last week he dumped an ENTIRE 15 oz bottle of baby powder over my ENTIRE downstairs.
I thought about making him clean it up but it would have just made
a bigger mess. So, he sat on his bed for the whole hour it took me to
clean it up.

Then, I made lunch. I ate fast and then told Cody to finish his while I went to feed Cade.
3 minutes later I hear, "MOM! I had a great idea to clean the kitchen. I'm using LOTS AND LOTS of water!"
Not only was he using lots and lots of water, but he had poured HALF my salt shaker into the water before dumping it all over the kitchen floor. I guees
I am just glad he used salt instead of sugar.
He sat on his bed for another hour after that one.

That was when I decided we needed to go to the park for an hour or so.

Today, he dumped about 20 items off our back balcony into the yard for Stacy's dog to play with.
He seems to do all of these things while I am feeding Cade.
Saturday he dumped his entire thing of fish food into the fish tank.

The BEST BY FAR was 2 weeks ago. We were at the park with his friends Branson and Davis. Branson's Mom and I work out while the boys play. This day the boys decided to play in the back of Cheri's truck. We weren't too far away but didn't see exactly what they were doing the whole time. Cheri showed me the next Monday what
she had discovered on her truck. The boys had drawn ALL OVER her truck with rocks.
Engraving their names and different designs.
When we asked the boys why they did it, they responded with,
"We wanted to make it a cool monster truck"
??????? WHAT!
Fortunately I married a man who has detailed a few cars in his life and he was able to get all the scratches out, but it was BAD! Not deep just a lot of them.

Now, he isn't always a turd. He may frustrate me everyday but he
also makes me laugh every day.

Yesterday we were headed to Stacy's apartment and we had the windows down in the car, he yelled out the window at the top of his lungs...
"SPIDERMAN!!! SPIDERMAN!!!"
He startled me so I asked him what he was doing. He said,
"I told spiderman to come save us! SPIDERMAN!!!!"

This morning he asked me when we could go to his grandma and grandpa's house. I told him that the next time we were in Idaho we would go. He said, no when it
is 13 o'clock we will go. I said, DEAL! :)
He told me he was going to call spiderman and ask him what time it was.

He turned his back to me, put his hand to his mouth and started talking. This is what I heard.
"Spiderman? Is it 13:00 to go to my grandma and
grandpa's house?? It is 13:00? Okay Bye"
He turned around and said,
"Mom, spiderman said it IS 13:00 to go to
grandma and grandpa's house."

These little comments get me through the day.
He has developed the worst little attitude, but he still manages
to melt my heart everyday.

What a weirdo

Not Cade... Cody. Cody is the weirdo. I had to
post this picture of Cade though. Cody used to pull out the lip
on us all the time. It melts Chris every time.

This was Cade yesterday. Stacy bought him this super cute little outfit. Its a short sleeved collared white shirt with khaki shorts. He was so cute!

And THIS is why Cody is weird. He picked these clothes out of a box I have in his room that has all his too small clothes in them.
What a looker!!

Live is great!
We've had a couple really nice days and we've made it to the park a couple times.
Stacy and BJ moved down over the weekend!
Cade is growing so fast! I can't believe it.
I could handle him sleeping longer stretches at night though.
3 hours is nice but 5 or 6 would be GREAT!

6 weeks

Just a couple cute pictures of the boys.
We are having a blast together. Cody is loving his baby brother. He asked me recently if I could have another baby tomorrow. That he wants 4 more baby brothers.

We had a great night last night. I have been trying to get Cade on a schedule the last couple days. I would like him to eat every 3-4 hours during the day and go even longer at night. Its been working pretty well so far. We don't always get to 3 hours during the day, but he went 5.5 hours last night for me. I was thrilled. I also want him to be able to sleep other places so I have tried to not be too stuck at our house. Yesterday we spent the whole day at some friends house about an hour south of us and he did just fine sleeping at their house too.

So far, things are still going well.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my boys.

Easter 2010

BRRRR... what a cold Easter! Reminds me of 2 years ago when we were down here in Utah to bring Mike to the MTC. Easter was in March and it was COLD!!

I tried to find a community egg hunt but decided it was too cold to drag Cade out so we slept in on Saturday instead. Made breakfast, cleaned up some messes and dyed Easter eggs.
Cody has been so excited to decorate eggs.

I didn't want to post pictures of Cody's new bed until it was finished but here it is anyway. The Easter bunny hid Cody's basket in one of the shelves under his bed.
*update*
Chris just informed me that this is going to be the finished product for now. The sticker that was supposed to go on the big board cost a lot more than he expected.

A big thanks to Uncle Chip and Uncle Troy for all your hard work on Cody's bed.

Cade was so excited about finding eggs :)

The Easter Bunny hid the eggs in pretty easy to find spots this year, but Cody was
looking every where. I think next year we might have to ask him to hid them in harder spots.

Cade was THIS excited!

Happy Easter!!

Cade's 1st ear infection

We had a rough 24 hours. However, it could have been worse. Cade has been fighting a small cold for a little while now. Mainly he has just been congested, nothing serious. While we were in Boise this last weekend my niece had a double ear infection and she too had been fighting a cold.

Thursday night Cade started getting kind of fussy. And by fussy I just mean a little whimpering. When I went to put him in bed Thursday night he only slept for about an hour before he woke up screaming. I knew he couldn't be hungry so I put him back to bed but he kept waking up so I fed him a little and put him back in bed. He was up 20 minutes later screaming again. Basically, our entire night consisted of him being held. He still didn't sleep much. Friday morning, I still had to be holding him upright for him to not be crying and then I found a goopy eye booger. I figured it was an ear infection and since it was Friday afternoon I decided not to wait and see if he just got better.

Sure enough, his right ear was infected. He was feeling much better within a couple hours. His Dr also prescribed us some cream for the rash he has on his little legs under his diaper. While we were at the Dr's office they weighed him... he weighs 10 lbs 2 oz!

You could say he owed me after our rough night Thursday night, but I didn't have my hopes up as we went to bed last night. He went to bed at 11... slept til 3:30 ate, back to sleep at 4... slept til 7:30. He pulled through for me. I really needed that!
