from our exhausted vampire... to you.

I want this.

With an expanding belly this winter, I really want this sweater from Old Navy. I don't buy anything besides tops there, and I saw this at the Park City Outlet. Its perfect because its not a maternity top but TOTALLY works for being huge. Only problem, I'm cheap :)
I bought a sweater at Ross the other day for 7.99 and almost had myself talked out of it.

The results are in

For those who haven't heard... We are having another BOY!
We are beyond excited!
We were hoping for a boy.
Fortunately, everything was great and he is very healthy.
Here are a couple pictures. the first is the profile picture and the second is the gender shot,
the Dr had to push him around a bit and still couldn't get a great between the legs shot.
its more of a side shot.
:)

Trunk or Treating

Cody was dressed up as a mix between a vampire and a grim reaper... we call it, "the scary guy"

:)

His Aunt Marissa made him the coolest grim reaper cape and the red bow tie, and then we painted his face and sprayed his hair. He thought he was pretty cool.

enjoying a donut

They had a costume parade for the kids to walk around the gym and show off their costumes, I asked this girl if she would hold Cody's hand and walk him around. They were so cute.

Just for kicks, here is Chris as a dracula at around Cody's age... when I was talking to Chris's dad tonight he reminded me that there was a picture of Chris is the same costume in his photo albums. How funny. I think with black hair and black eyes they would be a lot alike.

22 weeks

Tomorrow is the big day. (hopefully)
If all goes as planned I will either be shopping for pink or unpacking all my blue by tomorrow afternoon. I am SUPER excited, a little anxious but overall not as nervous as I was with Cody.

I haven't been sleeping well lately. I think that is my biggest frustration. Like not tired at night up at 5 and then tired all day kind of thing. I think part of it might be the fact that I have to sleep elevated so that the baby doesn't slide up into my throat during the night. It tries. It is incredibly painful. My belly is getting harder, not necessarily bigger. It is still pretty tender, like when I wear jeans I can button them but if I have to bend over it hurts.

Cody has been super cute lately. He tries to feel the baby move all the time and will show me how he is going to take care of it when it gets her. He'll cradle his arms and say, "See Mom, this is how we will hold the baby, right?" and he tells me that he will share his hiding spot under the stairs with the baby.

I will update when we find out what it is.

Halloween practice run

We went and bought the make-up for Cody's vampire costume today but he was too excited to wait so we had a test run... as a kitty cat. I just did something simple and he loved it. He insisted on putting make-up on me too. I was super impressed that he had only seen himself in the mirror once and was able to recreate the look on me. he was super focused and made sure the lipstick was in the lines.

Grocery Shopping

We went to get groceries at Smiths today because they had a lot of things I needed on sale, so Cody and I headed out after our nap. Right when we walked in the door Cody spotted the "baby carts" and he was all over them. I thought that shopping was tough with with a child, I had no idea how hard it could be with a child that is pushing his own cart. I have never had such a test of patience!

Mr. Fix It

This picture doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the title but I thought it was cute. We got those legos for him for Christmas last year and he has just recently started playing with them... productively. Before he would just throw them at people. Now he builds "a huge tower for Moroni to stand on."

Now for the Mr. Fix It part. I may have exxagerated a little. He isn't exactly Mr. Fix It.
But if something is broken he can always tell you what is wrong with it!
Either:
"It ran out of gas"
or
"The batteries died"
So if you need Cody to look at a broken anything, give him a call.
He can at least diagnose the problem
:)

21 weeks

Nothing significant to report this week.
Well, I guess its significant that I haven't been sick in a while!
It has been nice, I will admit.

My stomach is growing but someone who hasn't seen me in 5 months still wouldn't know if I was pregnant or just ran enitrely out of self control.

This little creature is a moving MACHINE though. Right now it tickles, but I remember with Cody how painful some of the kicks and shifts can be towards the end. I try to picture what it looks like or how its developing but not knowing the sex makes it difficult. Cody and I refer to it as a girl(not because thats what I want but because all babies are girls to him), but Chris refuses to refer to is as anything but a boy so I think at this point I am just a really confused Mommy.

My energy is still WAY down... I struggle through a day without a nap. I go to bed by 11 and get up at 8 and still need a nap half way through. I think the unisom pills I used to take made me drowsy through the day but it was totally worth it to not be throwing up, but now I think it is the crazy pregnant dreams I have.
When I was on the unisom I slept like a rock so I didn't remember the dreams but NOW... oh man. The dreams are so weird that I wake up multiple time in the night and often can't go back to sleep for a while. With the release of New Moon only a month a way or so I had a dream two nights ago that I got to go to a private premiere and I was in line to meet the cast when Chris's stupid alarm clock went off. I remember rolling over, turning it off since he was in the bathroom getting ready and saying to him, "Thanks a lot! I was just about to meet Edward Cullen!"
hahah and I am not even Team Edward :)
Or another favorite that I woke up SO MAD at Chris for was that he left me for an ex-girlfriend. One that I have met and we even hung out with her and her fiance at one point. I woke up and Chris was already at work and I didn't want to call and bug him about it at work but by the time he got home that night I had been thinking about it all day and was so annoyed at him... and he technically didn't even do anything.

or one that played more in my favor... Tom Brady left Giselle for me. Enough said :)

The Dentist

I will call this post, Cody's first Dentist Appt :)
I was a nervous wreck leading up to the appt. Not because of the check up, xrays or teeth cleaning. Okay it was partly the xrays. He was a champ about doing everything they asked him to do and holding perfectly still, opening and closing his mouth when instructed... it was what they were going to tell me after viewing the xrays that kept me from sleeping last night.
You see, Cody has a double tooth. When his top two center teeth came in, we noticed that one of them was two teeth fused together. According to one of my Aunts, this is hereditary and I had two cousins that had a double tooth. His pediatritian told us to have a dentist look at it but it wasn't anything to be concerned about, so we had a dentist who is a family friend just look at it one day while we were at their house and he said it that because it was starting to decay between the two teeth it would have to be filled. The bad part... sedation.
So, the Dr told me today that after looking at Cody's xrays, he can see that the teeth are actually 2 roots fused together at the gum line and he just has an extra tooth. Apparently thats a positive in this situation. So, they will go in and sand between the two teeth, pull the extra tooth, perform a baby root canal on the other (because the decay has gone into the tooths nerves) and then fill it. All while he is fully sedated.
Can I just tell you that that is NOT what I wanted to hear! A root canal on a 3 year old!!!!????
Fortunately it isn't going to be near as expensive as I thought it would be when I heard the words "root canal" and sedation.
So we go in on November 5th for the procedure.
Lets hope Mom doesn't lose it before then.

too cute

I was working on some stuff upstairs tonight and Cody was downstairs watching a movie when Chris got home... this is what we found downstairs.

I feel the need to brag

I know this has been going on for quite some time and I am a little behind, but I had a hard time justifying the newspaper subscription and buying a bunch of stuff if we were just going to move it all down to Utah. So now that I am here, I have been receiving the newspaper for about a month. And yesterday and today I made my first big coupon transactions.

Yesterday at Walgreens when all was said and done I got these mouthwashes and toothpastes for .75 each and I got 4 boxes of granola bars for .75 each.

Then today I headed to Albertsons to try to take advantage of their cereal sale before it ends tonight and I loaded up on Life and Cap'n Crunch. I got a total for 20 boxes at $1 each. The hamburger and chicken helpers were .75 each, juice boxes were 3pack for .50, potatoes were 5lbs for .99 and my favorite purchase of the day... the Welchs 64 oz grape juice were .75 each.
So, I spent $35 and saved $101 at Albertsons.
And then at Target I got the peanut butters for .67 each and the quaker granola bites for .50 which will be great for Chris's lunches. So I spent around $6.36 and saved $7.97.

Not bad for a beginner. I think.

20 weeks

20 weeks.

I may update a litte more than most would, but I regret not writing this stuff down when I was pregnant with Cody. I went off my vitamin b6 and unisom pills last night. I was starting to feel queesy last night and the night before so I am wondering if they are making me sick now. The challenge is going to be remembering to take my prenatals every day still.

According to the weekly email I get updating me on my pregnancy, my baby is 10 1/2 in. from head to toe... how is that possible??? I can feel it moving all the time. Like I mentioned in my last update others can only feel it after I first wake up and the baby is up higher in my tummy. But I feel the flutters and twitchings all the time.

I took a picture of my belly, but let me just throw this out there. My stomach looks no different than the day I found out I was pregnant. Again, like I already mentioned, I had put on some weight and am still well under my starting weight. I feel good, I have been eating and staying fairly active. SO... this picture does nothing for me, which is why I took it down... when I have a baby belly I will post pictures.

More Halloween Fun

Here are some boiled eggs we made. Again I found the idea on Martha Stewart and I made them mainly because I didn't think they would work... but they did. And Cody thought they were pretty cool.

Spider-web eggs

and frosting cookies with Riley.

19 weeks.

Today... I am 19 weeks pregnant.

I am still taking my morning sickness pills every night. I tried going off the pills a few nights ago but I started gagging so I went back on them after skipping only 2 nights.

I have had a lot of people who I don't get to see anymore now that we are in Utah ask to see pictures of my baby belly... small problem... there isn't one.

First, a little background.

When I got pregnant with Cody I was at my healthiest and then after I had Cody I constantly struggled to lose and keep of ANY weight. When the first of 2009 showed its pretty face I cringed because I knew I wanted to go off birth-control but I didn't want to get pregnant when I was my heaviest since having Cody. I am not one of those whose LOVE going to the gym, I do enjoy it but I have to have someone going with me. My main form of exercise is playing volleyball and I don't have a lot of opportunities now that I don't coach.

So, when I found out I was pregnant, I wont lie that I wasn't as excited as I'd hoped to be because I wasn't comfortable with what I saw when I got on a scale. I also know I am not fat. I have never felt like I am "fat." For me it has less to do with the lbs and everything to do with how I feel.

ANYWAY, when I got sick (morning sickness) I was miserable, but kind of grateful. I couldn't imagine putting on 20-30 more lbs even if it was ALL pregnancy weight. I put on exactly 32 lbs with Cody and was very okay with that. I lost a total of 20 lbs over an 8 week period of not eating (much.) I have put back on 5 but am eating now so I expected that. If I can keep myself around where I got to with Cody in total weight especially with the holidays I will be happy.
Actually, I will be happy regardless because I will have a new baby, but I mean happy with the weight gain.

Back to being pregnant. I have been able to feel the baby move A LOT! Which is crazy to me since no one can tell I am pregnant still. It squirms mainly between the hours of 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. I feel it throughout the day constantly too, but I think I notice those hours the most because I am trying to go to sleep. If it weren't for the constant movements and the, what I can only assume are Braxton Hicks contractions already, then I would probably be worried at my lack of a tummy. (Well baby tummy that is, I think I will always have my pooch/food baby. It doesn't seem to go away. EVER.)
Cody and Chris were able to feel the baby move the other day too. The only time anyone else can feel it is right after I wake up if I don't have to run to the bathroom first. The baby seems to slide up in my tummy throughout the night so it is right under my belly button but as soon as I get up to use the bathroom it goes right back down to it's hiding spot. Cody thinks its so funny to feel the baby move, he swears his baby in his tummy is moving now too.
With my first pregnancy I didn't have ANY of the typical pregnancy symptoms, so to have EVERY single one this time has been weird. I don't remember having to go potty so often. I swear I haven't gone one night for 3 months without getting up at least once. I think this has something to do with how far back I am carrying it and how low it is.
I hope this changes soon.
We don't go to the Dr. for 3 more weeks to hopefully find out what we are having. I am getting anxious. I don't know how people can NOT find out what they are having, unless they already have at least one of each. I am still hoping for a boy because I have everything I need for a boy and I know how to change a boys diaper. Girls scare me. But I won't be disappointed if it is a girl mainly because my sister-in-law Marissa is having a girl in early January. They can be best friends :)

and... those baby tickers creep me out so I wont be using one. I will just give you a weekly update instead :)

Homeade Halloween Decorations

I have been researching for a couple days to find some fun kids crafts to create Halloween decorations. I found a couple on MarthaStewart.com that worked out great for us.

Aunt Missy came over to be Cody's assistant.
They glued,
and glittered.
These directions to make these cute pictures can be found here,
I LOVED the way they turned out. We mixed some different colored
glitters together from a sample pack I found to create the colors we liked.
The spiderweb candle holders were SO easy and fun. Cody loves them!
I was supposed to buy them already frosted but couldn't find any so I bought a bottle of
frosted glass glaze or something like that and I'm so glad I did because it was too
easy and now I know how to do it instead of paying extra for it already done.

I still have to finish the other side and then blow off the extra glitter but I think they will be really cool when I'm done.

This pumpkin is a favorite also. We glittered a real pumpkin but I am going to buy some fake ones tomorrow so I can have some to keep for next year.

The "shocking silhouettes" were so easy and I love them. This is kind of what they
are supposed to look like at night with the candle lit, however, I have a 3 year old boy running around my house so the candles will only get lit again on Halloween.

and a close up of the glitter silhouettes.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

We took Cody to see his first 3D movie the other night. What was I thinking?!?!?! I get sick watching 3D movies when I'm NOT pregnant. The glasses were too big for Cody so he took them off most of the time but still enjoyed the movie most of the time I think. I think I will leave the 3D movie dates to boys nights from now on.
