Island Park 2011

56This is going to be fairly lengthy. I didn't get very many good pictures during out Tahoe weekend so I am waiting for others to share, but since I didn't have anyone else taking pictures on this trip I have to deal with my mediocre pictures.

We left Saturday morning to begin our journey. We headed to SLC for Grandpa Henneman's funeral. After the funeral there was a lunch at a local restaurant where we got to see and talk to lots of family that we don't get to see very often. As Cade started getting cranky we headed out for our week long trip.

We arrived in Island Park around 8:30 that night, just in time to grab some dinner, play a couple card games and head to bed.

Sunday morning, we went into town for church and then hung out at the cabin for the rest of the day.

Monday we got up and headed out on Henry's Lake with the ski boat. Just me, my dad, Cody and my Grandpa. Cody had been begging to go but 10 minutes out there he was ready to be done. The fishing was tough, but a guy on a boat next to us gave Cody one of his fish which kept him happy the rest of the trip. He played with that fish and the one I caught for an hour.

Monday night we went into W. Yellowstone and watched "High School Musical" at the Playmill Theater. Cody and Cade both did really well through it. Cade clapped when everyone else clapped, and danced when the performers were dancing but he started to get antsy towards the end so we watched the rest in the waiting area.

Tuesday morning we went out on Henry's Lake again but didn't catch anything. A crazy wind storm blew in to save the day for Cody. He couldn't get off the boat fast enough again.

We headed back to the cabin to ride bikes and play. That night I went to a play at a different playhouse with my grandparents and Aunts while my mom stayed home with the kids and the boys fished. Stacy and Carli got in that night too.

Wednesday morning we took it easy, riding bikes and hanging out until my cousins Trisha and Ashley showed up with my kids which was great for everyone. Cody and Cade had buddies to play with and I technically I had buddies to play with too.

After the kids wore themselves out they all stayed up and watched a movie with their Great Grandma Henderson.

Thursday we went into town ( I think I may have my days off but oh well) with the cousins and let the kids walk the streets and look in the shops. They had a good time watching the guys in the candy shop make the laffy taffy.
In one of the shops, there was a quarter super glued to the carpet and since Cody is obsessed with collecting change, he worked REALLY hard to get it off the carpet. It was hilarious, especially when Bria, Lydia and Bitner came over to help.

One night I came home late from a play to find these two snuggle bugs in my bed.
I know I have my days off now because Stacy left Thursday and we went golfing Thursday morning. It was a fun golf course but it was still difficult to get me frustrated.
My Grandma taking Cade for a bike ride.
Cade and Stratton in their "spot" Cade would walk backwards up to this little step dozens of times a day. They are like 7 weeks apart.
The "cousins" posing for a group pictures.

Even though the big boys fished all day every day they do start to get tired and one day I caught them all watching Tom and Jerry.
Cody and Stratton getting into things :)
The cabin we were staying in is more of a home in a "resort" area. The golf course is a block away and there is a swimming pool inside the club house. We took advantage of it a couple times. Cody is becoming more and more comfortable in the water and can actually swim from one side of the pool to the other but just by doggy paddling. He loves swimming with goggles and is learning to float.

The boys helping my dad drive to the pool (even though it was so close)

Cody and Chris playing in the little kids pool. Chris was flipping him around.
and then Cody got his revenge.

On Friday we went to the driving range with Cody so he could have a chance to go golfing. We bought a couple buckets of balls, but while we were waiting for my dad Cody and I found a couple empty buckets and went and gathered balls that hadn't been hit very far. I had to take a picture of him collecting balls by the sign that says, "Do not pick up range balls" haha

and a picture of my cousin Dillon by the sign :)

7 peaks

We have 7 peaks passes this year, but have only been twice. I am glad we bought the passes because Cody has had a lot of fun there but next year I think I will just by passes to the Lindon pool.

7 peaks does have a couple slides that Cody loves going on and a fun little kids pool but its takes 35 min to get there. Cade however, is still getting used to the water. :)

Lake Tahoe: Scott Family Reunion

We had an amazing opportunity to go to Lake Tahoe this Summer for Lori's family reunion. I got to meet a couple people that I hadn't had the chance to meet yet and Cody was able to meet cousins he didn't know he had, which he was THRILLED about. We decided to fly when we realized that it was just about the same price to fly and rent a car as it would be to drive with all the extras that come along with that. GOOD DECISION!

We had an hour drive to the cabins from the airport and 15 minutes in Cody asked us if we were there yet.... yep, GOOD DECISION!

Lucky for us we booked our flights late enough that we didn't have seats together, so Chris had a 1 hour of free time while I kept Cade from choking on peanuts for an hour. He conked out about 15 minutes before we landed.

We did a little shopping at the outlet mall by the Reno airport since we had a little time to kill and then headed to the cabins. It was raining so hard that we could hardly see in some areas but started to clear up as we got closer. We had a yummy dinner that night and got to play with new friends and then called it a night.

Thursday morning we had breakfast with everyone staying in our cabin, and we headed out for a hike. Cody and I were hunting bears, while others were just going on boring walks :) Fortunately, we found a deer on our adventure along with a whole backpack full of "cool" rocks and flowers.

Cody and Jared posing with the deer we saw :)
After hikes everyone met up at the marina for a couple hours of boating. The water was FREEZING cold but some people still swam. Cody went on a tube for the first time with Chris's cousin Austin. I told the driver of the boat to go nice and slow, so he did and the front of the tube went under water as soon as he started going. Cody's legs were flying around as he tried to stay on the tube. We all had a good laugh, fortunately Cody thought it was funny too.

After boating Thursday we all met up at the Resort that Grandma Eve was staying at for dinner. Everyone sat at a really long table and shared a yummy dinner and played some fun games. Cody had a blast running around with his little cousin Hannah.

Friday morning, we had family pictures. It was hot outside and it was nap time. Not a great combination for Cade but we got some amazing pictures of everyone. While I took Cade back to nap Cody, Chris, Steve, Lori, Mikey and Marissa went and rented a jet ski for a little bit. I missed Cody's first ride on the jet ski but it sounded like he had a blast.

Right before they left for the lake though, we had bears walk threw our backyard. It was pretty cool.

Friday night we had a BBQ and more playing with cousins.

Saturday morning we had another chance to ride jet skis so Cody and I went. Cody only lasted about 20 minutes before he was too cold so we gave the jet ski to one of the big cousins and Cody and I went and to a little treat shop across the road and then to find him a shirt.

This is the shirt he chose... and he picked one out for Cade.
Chris, Cade and the rest of the Hennemans picked Cody and I up and we all went in to Harrah's for their breakfast buffet. It was so yummy, Cody even shared his ice cream with Cade.

We headed to the airport after breakfast/lunch with Mike and Marissa since we were all on the same flight back to SLC. The flight was short but bumpy and a couple of us almost lost our lunch but we were home.

Cody still tells people about his trip to Lake Tahoe, the bears he saw and the jet skis he got to ride on. We had a blast, and we can't wait to go again.
